NOM NOM!

Havanna was such a treat to visit during this global destination course. Not just because we got plenty of sweets for us to eat but because they really explained how a company with such a rich (as rich as their dulce de leche) history within their own culture has been able to package their culture and send it to become an international presence. They are all over south america and have also expanded to south america . They will also soon be in Miami. They have been able to sell their authenticity with their goods and coffee and lunch. they have partnerships with hotels and airports. They have been able to successfully expand while continuing to keep the integrity of their baked goods. All of their products are made naturally an they have been able to create ways despite the short life of their products. their franchising stores have become a strong competitor in the coffee market throughout Latin America. They are seen all over Buenos Aires from main streets to Campuses. This was a good example of how Latin Americans respect good business practices and it can be done while achieving smart growth.

The second meeting for the day was

Pan American Energy

The supply chain planning specialist Maria Lujan Pena spoke to us about many aspects of the company including gas and oil production. Many of the students including myself was mostly interested in the affects of the production had on the environment. a previous lawyer and director and seems to handle the PR of the effects on the environment told us that we have nothing to worry about that they do their best to do as little harm as possible. Dr. Casselman also asked another important question about the indigenous people that are often displaced in the buying of the oil sites. They again assured that there was nothing to worry about they they get assistance with their living. I also brought up that Argentina has goals for 2030 to eventually begin to be energy sustainable apart of the United Nations 17 sustainability goals. They agreed that their society will one day push them to be 100% environmentally safe and as for now they do their best. They spoke about renewable energy and all of the technology their company continues to invest in to stay current in innovation that will in turn be better for the environment.
