Today was our first official business meeting of the program. We prepared to meet with..

Uruguay XX1

This was a government agency that is private but founded by public funds. Its main purpose is to promote country exports promote FDI in Uruguay and develop the overall country's brand. It is all about the advancement of the country. They focus on the export potential of small to medium sized organizations. they offer tools such as workshops, competitive reports, support such as expert and protic financial help and they also promote the country by attending trade visits.

They mad it clear that they are not a bank but an agency of export or promotion .

They target different regions and depend on the sector. Uruguay XXI believes that by developing the talent in Uruguay that the overall health and prosperity of the country will in return advance the country as a whole. they mostly work in order to make information more accessible to the companies that work with.

They have different ways to evaluate their influence in the companies that interact with. Within 5 years they try to help 40% goods and 60% services to be exported to other countries. They also work heavily with other organizations that cater to other Latin American Countries.

This was the perfect first visit because during the visit they clearly explained what Uruguay has to offer investors and prospective business interest.

Ease of Business

Talented and Skilled

Quality of Life

Preferential Market Access

Reliability

are all reasons that Uruguay is a great place to do business.

During her presentation she defended many insights expressed in my Research project.

Between meetings we then went to Mercado Del Puerto.

Best Place EVER

We ate steak and enjoyed getting to know each other. It was an amazing experience.

Next.....

we went to go see the company GrupoRAS.

The company was very hospitable to our group. The director, Jimmy Rohr explained the difficulties of shipping, exporting, and importing goods in Latin America. GrupoRAS coordinates and executives shipping through air, ships in the port, trucking and car services. He explained that as a Latin American Country that is growing they face many difficulties while progressing to develop their business. One being the infrastructure allowing them to drive things from one area to the next. or the amount of time it takes to get things to China.

He also spoke of how Uruguay does many things to encourage development in the business.

Mr. Rohr was even gracious enough to give us a tour of their shipping center at the Port.

We then road on the Buquebus to go to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
